Roses with Chrochet Trim…

Ciao Bella,

I have a special treat for you today… have been having fun Making Paper and Ribbon Roses with either Crochet Trim or Lace Trim…

take a look …

Razzleberry Rose with Raven Lace Trim

This rose I created for a Halloween project, but when I finished it didn't quite fit with the project that I had envisioned… So I'm going to either save it for a special Project or add a pin backing to it and where it on my jacket, when things get a little cooler…

I made it with RazzleBerry 5/8" Grosgrain Ribbon (119957) pg. 191 in the IB&C and the New Raven Lace Trim (120988) pg 8 in the Holiday Mini Catalog

I just love this New Raven Lace Trim

Now for this rose, it took on a life of it's own …LOL and now it too big for the project it was intended…

After making the RazzleBerry rose I was curious if I could make it a bit easier…So I tried it with Card Stock…yes that blue is paper…

I used Night of Navy Card Stock ((1000867) pg. 168 in the IB&C, and the Victoria Crochet Trim ( 118481) pg. 190 in the IB&C. I also used the Antique Brads( 117273) pg. 187 in the IB&C…and I told you I couldn't stop…so I added a few Layers of Stampin' Up's New Deck The Halls Designer Fabric (121716) pg. 16 of the New Holiday Mini Catalog.Last I added a few Scallop punched pieces of Cherry Cobbler Card Stock …

Now since it is Labor Day, I decided to do a Little Labor of Love for all my readers… I created a tutorial on how to make the Precious Roses.

So click here for your FREE PDF tutorial…..

All I ask is if you are another demo please remember the Golden Rule…

Here is another version of the one above that I made for the tutorial.

I hope you enjoy the tutorial and the rest of you Labor Day Weekend…

How to make a Pin Cushion Button Jar

Ciao Bella,

I just can't stop making these pin cushion button jars…and by all the emails I have received, you all are enjoying them as well…I have also received many emails asking how I made them or where I found my jars…First let me say that I'm not the first to make pretty decorated jars…

ok back to your questions…. what kind of jars are they and where did I get them … The jars are just plain everyday day Canning jars used for jams and jellies in different sizes and shapes. The small jars I got at my local grocery store in the canning section…Now for the larger or different shaped jars, that's a little more difficult. They are left overs from when I was on a canning kick back when I lived in Italy and Germany…But even then I found these jars in the local grocery stores as well…the one brand that I have found no matter what country I was in was Ball…so I'm pretty sure they would have a Website.

For the what I used to stuff the pin cushion … I used plain old Polly-Fill found at Walmart. Polly-Fill is pillow stuffing and just 1 bag will last a long time….

Here is another one I made yesterday, with of course another sneak peak at the new Designer Series Fabric

The reason why I made another one besides they are so much fun to make…Is so I could make a tutorial for you…The tutorial is FREE, I just ask that you use the honor system if you use it for anything more than your personal use….

So just Click Here for the FREE Tutorial

If you should need any of the Stampin' Up! Supplies I'm here to assist you that too.

I hope you enjoy the Tutorial and If you have any questions please feel free to contact me …..

Vintage Gifts with Stampin’ Up Crochet Trim

Ciao Bella,

Wow that summer cold that took me out last week…was one Monster of a cold… I thought I was feeling good enough to go to the Farmer's Market…boy was I wrong…It set me back all weekend…..Ok enough of the whinny …I was able to create a little gift…Now I didn't come up with this all by myself… A Stampin' Up sister demo, did the original …this is just my take on her idea…..In any case  it is still a wonderful gift ideal….

Take a look

Aren't they the cutest…. They are pin cushions jars…..the tops of the jar is a pin cushion and the jar it self could be filled with buttons, brad, ribbon scraps, candy…or anything you can think of …

This one features the New Big Designer Button from the up coming Holiday Mini Catalog and

Basic Pearls(119247)pg. 188 in the IB&C….

Ok I have to admit I went a little crazy, I just couldn't stop adding the Designer Button on pg 186 in the IB&C and More of those Basic Pearls…I was just having so much fun ….

Here is a more vintage feel with the new Antique Brads(117273) on pg 187 of the IB&C and the New Victoria 5/8' Crochet Trim(118481) on page 190 in the IB&C

This last one, has to be my favorite, again with the Victoria Crochet Trim(118481) and the Antique Brads (117273)…

Wouldn't these be a great gift…for the sewing friend of course but was about your child's teacher…she could keep a roll of sticker in it or  maybe some binder clips…or your co-worker, to keep paper clips or rubber bands …or in a bathroom to hold some bath salts….

I would love to show you how to make these, just email me and we can have a private class or get a group of friends together and have a party….

Another StampinUp Big Shot Fabric Basket

Ciao Bella,

I know it has been a while … but with the Easter Holiday I was visiting with Family and moving furniture around …My Mother In Law brought me Furniture…. I love Furniture…so I have been Moving things around and re designing my classroom and studio…..it's only half way there but I can't wait ….Ok for today I'm sharing a "Easter Basket" I made for my MIL, I used My Big Shot and the Scalloped Square Die of course…..I made it the same way as I did for my little Easter Basket….

Isn't it just cute as a button …. and I used 5 different fabrics…this is way out of my comfort zone… I usually go with one fabric and a complementary solid color…

My MIL loved it and knew exactly where she would be using it in her house…on an everyday basis…

this little basket is perfect for being a napkin holder or fruit basket or even a gift basket… it's not too deep or too wide …..

Here are some other views of the basket

Ok ….Here is a First … I created a pattern …. yes I know that a biggie for me … but I'm trying to grow a little …

It is very simple …. but it gives you an Idea about how easy these are to make…

For the handle I used the scraps from making the scallop squares… I did piece together several pieces to make the alternating fabric sections …

Again it took me less than 2 hours from start to finish…and I don't sew…I'm thinking I might just have to have a class for this … I think they are too much fun to make …..

Ok well that's it for today …. Tomorrow I will be telling you about Stampin' Up's New Color Renovation … you won't want to miss this …..

Adventures in Sewing with the Big Shot

Ciao Bella ,

It has been a while since I posted anything about my sewing projects using The BIG SHOT …..Well today I'm posting another adventure…and Tutorial… Yes I know I said tutorial …. but really it's more like my notes with pictures…why all of a sudden am I posting a tutorial … well it is part of my participation in Late Night Stampers Bootcamp … This Bootcamp is designed to help me grow my business and my self through service…and I hadn't really served you my online follows …. sure I post pictured of ideas but I hadn't really given you anything other than Blog Candy…So I decided I would try my hand at writing something like a tutorial .This Late Night Stampers' Boot Camp has also given me the confidence to even try something like this …..So Grab Your Grain of salt or two …. here we go ..

First and Foremost I don't sew…. second, please remember I failed straight lines and scissors in Kindergarten…..and third there is no measuring …

Ok so …. today I made this little Easter Basket using the Big Shot and the Scalloped Square Die …take a look …I designed it for a little boy and my 13 year old son approved…his only comment was it was too small to hold all the candy he requested from the Easter Bunny…..

WARNING…. If you are a TYPE A personality…. STOP… right now… this will drive you insane…..

the first thing I did was double over my fabric… and set the Big Square die on top to I would be sure when I actually cut the fabric it would fit…..

Next I left the fabric doubled and just laid it back and forth on itself until I had 6 layers total …. I used denim today .. otherwise I could get 8 layers in ……

I'm not showing you a picture of me running the fabric through the big Shot ….well because .. I forgot to take a picture……

Next I just eye balled the batting into squares smaller that the scalloped squares of denim…..

then I didn't glue the batting or anything …..I just matched up the scallops and put my pins in the sort of middle … just incase …there was any shifting…..

Now… here is the a tips for non sewing people … on the sewing machine there are little measurement lines or markers….

What I do is pick one of those marker lines and use that to Try .. key word being TRY….doesn't always happen ..but try to run my square through the machine in a straight line …..now this really doesn't the best when you are sewing the "X" on each square… so I don't stress about …go slow..and it comes out just fine …..

After I sew all the Squares with there "X"…. I lay out the squares to check to be sure I like the way the different fabrics look together…..

Next are a couple of pictures of how I pinned the squares together …..

lay your squares laid out like a plus sign …. I choose to vertically and sew the squares together … then add each square on the horizontal…

clear as Velum ?… I wish I knew who started that phase….so I could give then credit….anyway…

here is what it looks like after the sewing

As you can see NO WHERE NEAR PERFECT…. But that's ok for me … you can spend the time to make the corners perfect …I just don't have the patients for that ….. see I told you …. type A's …really really squirming about now …..

Next I pinned and sewed just one corner together at a time …. I also discover the the square that is the bottom of the basket will fold right out of the way … I add another pin to keep it out of the way …. I also like to start at would be the top of the basket and work toward the bottom…. there is less fabric at the top .. so for me it's easier to get it started feeding under the foot ….

So After I went around and sewed all the corners …..It's time to make the handle …. For that I used the scrap fabric from cutting the Squares and trimmed it …..

Now easy peasy I pinned them together "right" side together … and just ran it through he machine… a line down each side ……

Did an old flip a roo .. turned it inside out and got this …..

Now attaching the handles can be tricky… My machine ..had a part that comes off for feeding circular type projects …the next photos are with this part on and one without …..

Usually … I leave this wide "base " piece off … I can jam a bobbin so fast … or loose the bobbin thread … for me it's just easier to leave off….

Next I pinned my handles into the open top of squares….carefully fed it into the machine and carefully went into a circle ….at the handles … I did put my motor in reverse and go back and for a few times for strength……

Trim any thread…..and your done …. I turned mine inside out because I thought the raggy edges were a little too shabby Sheik for a boy…

so take another look at the finished basket …

Sorry I didn't fill the basket for you…. but If I dug out the hidden Easter candy… my teenage boys would have devoured it …and then there would be none for Easter.

I hope you enjoyed my little tutorial on how to make a rag quilted Easter basket…..If you like it let me know … If you want to copy it feel free to copy paste…..

Next week's adventure …..Hummmm…..I'll have think about that one …..

Thanks again to Sherrill Graff and her Late Night Stamper Bootcamp for helping me get out of my comfort zone a stretch……

Another try at Sewing and the Big Shot

Ciao Bella,

Well …I tried to do some more sewing …and I have to say …these are pretty good….they are a small pillow, inspired by another demo talking about making a quilt to auction off at her pre-school fundraiser…and the talk of pre scholars got me thinking about a tooth fairy pillow….and a small pillow for the pre-scholar who needs a little extra love when away from Mom and Dad…

The First one is a toothfairy pillow….

I tend to lean toward the famine so I did this one toward the masculine…..I used the Scallop Square Die to make the basic pillow. I also used the Circle die #2, to make the quilted circle, and snipped the edges to make it fringe-y. Yes I used real buttons…now before anyone goes crazy about the choking hazard, If I actually were to make and give it to a small child ( my kids are all teens)… I would use the Sizzlits Die Buttons #5 and use felt…but I didn't have any felt and this was made for me….and I tend to keep chocolate in my mouth not plastic….

This little pillow was inspired by the children who need a little extra when away from Mom and Dad….AND …it reminded me of the childrens book entitled " The Kissing Hand"  and the quote from it " I love you forever,I love you for always…" I know there more but my youngest is 13 so it has been a decade since I read that book…any way the book is about a child being nervous about going to school and being away from his Mom and she kisses the palm of his hand and says the quote from above…..the Sizzlets Heart Set  4 pack dies have the exact heart from the story….so of course I just had to add it…..for a little boy the heart color could be changed out to a different color denim like I used on the tooth pillow ….

Isn't is cute…who wouldn't mind nap time when given the book " The Kissing Hand" and this little pillow before the start of the new adventure of going to school ……

don't forget to leave a comment …
