Giving Back

Often times I find myself wondering what can I do to make a difference….and it always seemed like a Daunting Task…so this year I challenged myself to break it down into smaller pieces and know that my small part just might be someone else's Moment.

So this page is dedicated to my events and special that are dedicated to Giving Back to my community. I try to make as many of these events as Free, as possible but that's not always possible or I will provide assistance to others through Fundraising opertunities.

I am a Military Spouse of 16 years, so my heart is always with troops. To support the troops I hold free card making events, at these events we make cards for the troops to send to their families …These cards are fee to the soldier and is a great moral booster not only for the soldier but for their family.  Communication between the soldiers and his or family is so important and a hand made card the soldier was able to get for free and add a personal quick note and drop in the mail and have it arrive in time for that special day…. is priceless…to see the words, I love you or I miss you or Daddy/Mommy Miss you on a hand made card….is something tangible that that family member will keep close to the heart until their soldier returns home,

A current Project I am working on is with the Stars and Stripes Quilters Guild here in Hinesville GA. They are providing quilts to all the wounded worriers that come through the hospital here at Fort Stewart. Their Goal is 500 quilts by the end of November 2010. I will be donating a thank you card to go with each of those quilts. To reach this goal at every workshop I hold, one of the projects the attendees will make, will be a thank you card.  I also will be holding Free Open to the Public Events around the area of Hinesville.

I  also provide classes and activities for other groups, such as Family Readiness Groups (FRGs), PTA/PTOs, and Scouting. These are availble to them at cost… I make NO PROFIT from these activities and classes. Some of the available activities are below and can be customized for each individual groups needs…

Mommy and Me Class - this class is where "mommy" will make a 6X6 scrapbook page and "me" will make 3 birthday cards for their friends… with mommy's help.  This class is themed by request, but choices include Build A Bear, Pirate, Princess, "extreme" sports, and general seasonal like Christmas, spring, back to school…

Stamping or Scrapbooking 101 - This activity is a basic demonstration of how to stamp or scrapbook and includes a hands on approach. I will demonstrate the basics of Stamping/Scrapbooking  and afterward each person in attendance will get to try stamping/Scrapbooking and make a card /scrapbook page to take home with them …depending the time constraints I also invite attendees to make a thank you card for our troops to go with the Quilts mentioned above. This can be done , super simple, with in a group meeting or a little more or a "stepped up" version for a separate activity or class

For Scouts or other groups that need to meet their community service requirements, I'm always available to come to your meeting and have your group assisting in making Cards for our Troops or Thank You cards to go with the Quilts.  If you group is a High School age group, I always need helpers to run my Cards for Troops events.

Fundraising - I have different Fundraising options based on your needs, these can be completed items for you to make and sell or a "workshop style" event where the group takes orders for Stampin' Up merchandise. I will then donate my part to the group in CASH and the other product benefits goes to the groups…and what school or group doesn't need more craft supplies…In the past  groups have earned a Big Shot Die Cutting system for free and several dies, not to mention Card Stock  and still receive cash.

All these Events and activities are based on YOUR groups needs so If you are interested or have questions please don't hesitate to contact me.
