Wrapped the Cherry Cobbler striped ribbon around the pocket…..added the coffee pot layers … then stamp the Sentiments, punched it out and glued that on … and that's it you are done…..

Super fast and easy…..

Creativity Challenge Freak Friday

Ciao Bella,

I have to say this challenge is a little difficult….not as easy as it first appears…I have had several people ask me about the challenge tasks… so Here is Carrie Cudney's Challenge…

Creative Challenges
by Carrie Cudney from Stampin' Up

? Find 10 quotations about creativity that inspire you or remind
you of the importance of being creative. Find a way to
incorporate them into your journal….one per page, or all on the
same page…anything goes!

? In your journal, write the phrase “I am creative” 25 times. Make
it look different each time you write it.

? As adults we tend to criticize ourselves. Learn to get past your
inner critic by doing some stream of consciousness writing. Fill
three pages in your journal by writing whatever comes to mind.
Nothing is too silly, too weird, or too trivial to be included. When
your inner critic starts telling you things like “this isn't
interesting,” or “you are a horrid speller,” or “you have such
messy handwriting” or “you are not creative,” just push past
those thoughts and keep going.

? Pablo Picasso once said, “All children are artists. The problem is
how to remain an artist once he grows up.” Do something
creative that you loved to do as a child (put together a puzzle,
color a picture, build a sand castle, play make-believe, etc.)
Don't analyze anything, but do it as you would have as a child.
This works even better if you can find a little one to play with
you. Create a page in your journal inspired by your experience.

? Do something creative to your appearance. (Wear bright colored
accessories, paint your toenails a fun color, wear your hair a
different way than you typically wear it.) Take your photo, put it
in your journal and record how you feel about your creative look.

? List in your journal all the reasons why you are a legitimate
artist/and or designer.

? Fill a page in your journal defining the word 'fun' by using only
images–no words.

? Steven Spielberg once claimed that his very best ideas came to
him while driving the freeways. On a nice day, go for an
afternoon drive by yourself, put on some inspirational music, roll
down the window, get comfortable, and let your mind wander
(but please drive carefully!). When you get back, record the
ideas that flowed through your mind.

? Turn on a great piece of music (preferably nothing with lyrics).
Relax, breathe deeply, listen for 10 minutes and let yourself
daydream. Create a picture of your day dream in your journal.

? To be creative, you have to be willing to try new things and
break some rules. Find a blank page in your journal and break
some rules to make it look 'ugly'. Use a color scheme that isn't
supposed to match, use words or images that should be too
small or too big, make things the wrong color, or put things in
the wrong places.

? On a day when you are feeling positive, write a thank you letter
or make a thank you card for yourself. List your best qualities
and let yourself know that you are creative and you are capable
of remarkable things! Paste the letter in your journal. (It might
be fun to mail it to yourself first!) Come back and read the letter
if you are ever feeling down or in a creative funk.

? Find a magazine photo of somebody famous that you admire.
Cut it out and paste it in your journal. Add a speech bubble that
compliments you on your amazing creativity.

? Sometimes we are most creative in the middle of the night when
everything is still and quiet. Set your alarm for 3:00 a.m. Get
up, go outside and admire the universe. Go back inside, and
without turning on any lights, sit in a comfortable chair and take
a few minutes to enjoy the stillness of the night. Go back to bed
and in the morning, record your experience in your journal.

? Part of being creative is learning to appreciate differences and
not compare yourself to others. Go outside and collect 5
different but beautiful leaves. Place them in your journal and list
10 ways that they are all different.

? Add a “happy colored” accessory to your room or office. It could
be a vase, a frame, a tray or anything. Take a picture, put it in
your journal and describe why you picked that particular object
to remind you of your heightened creative awareness.

See… not so easy as they sound …..

I tried the getting up at 3 am…..Ok the Dogs woke me up to go outside…. but I was 3:30 and I went out side … and as I was watching for owls…who would like to snack on my little dogs….I looked at the stars…listened to the tree frogs and toads…when the dogs were done …we went inside and I sat and tried to listen to the quite …..and fell asleep on the couch…..when I woke up ….all I was inspired to do was want to buy a new couch …..so maybe I'll try this one again later…..

I did work on the one about finding 10 Quotes …..I will leave you with one of them since I don't have any actual pictures to share …..yet …..

Creativity requires the courage to let go of certainties.

End the Summer with Petite Pockets

Ciao Bella,

Ok … I have a confession to make this morning …. When I comes to gardening ….I am really cheap…I love to work in the garden and have beautiful flowers…but what I can't stand is the price of plants for the garden ….even seeds…..So this time of year I always have little envelopes in my purse…..so that when I'm out and about and I happen across a plant or flower, that happens to be "going to seed" ….I collect the seeds….embarrassing I know …but what can I say…..

So When Stampin Up Add the Petite Pocket Bigz Die to their collection …I was so excited…The first thing that came to mind were the old fashioned seed packets from yestar year…so I just had to make my own version …

For something intended to eventually be taken to the garden , I didn't want to go too fancy ….Here is what the die looks like

I didn't do anything fancy with the pocket ….just used it as it was intended….. Oh before I forget, even though this is a BIGZ die ….you only need 81/2 x 11 card stock to make it … that is sooo super cool…..anyway before I assembled the pocket I stamped the sun flower image in Early espresso randomly all over the Very Vanilla pocket …. and I stamp the image on a piece of scrap very Vanilla.  the , the Image on the scrap …I used a sponge dauber and "pounced" Daffodil Delights to Color it …..then are you ready for this ….. I fussy cut the image out…..I know … me and scissors not always a good mix …but I did ok this time…then I attached the image to the Flap of the pocket…with a color coordinating brad…Then I figures out where I wanted my other brad to go …to make the "old string closures"….. popped that brad in … used sticky strip to close the pocket up … added my bakers twine and BINGO, we have a winner …..I just think this is the cutest thing…..

Let me show you the Creative Elements Stamp Set …..This one is going to become a Favorite real fast

How gorgeous is this set …..it can take you from silly and whimsical to elegant and vintage…..this is one of those all purpose stamp sets you really need to own …..

Ok … tomorrow is Freak Flag Friday …so I'm off to get ready for that…

If you have any questions or comments, please feel free contact me … I'm always available ….

Petal Card Double Punch Box

Ciao Bella,

I'm so excited today…. My Dear Sweet Friend, Teresa Hafso otherwise known as The Scrappin' Mama…asked me to be her Featured Artist on her Blog…..I am so honored … I don't know what to say…but Did know what to do ….Create a project just for her…but I couldn't just stop there …I also Created a little picture tutorial to go with it ….SO …Want to see the project that is being featured on the Scrappin' Mama Studio's Blog …..

It is this tiny little 1 inch box , made with the Petal Card Double Punch…these little boxes are perfect for all sorts of things…..this one I made to go on a Halloween Spooky Tree…….

So let's get going on how to make one of this little gems …

You will need the Petal Card Double Punch, Bone Folder and either Designer Series Paper or Card Stock

1. Punch out 4 of the Petal Cards…. Look at the picture to the right…can you see how clear the score lines are?…To get those score lines super clear… Here is an Important tip….. stand up when you use this punch…use two hands, one on top of the other, and after it punches give it an extra push…. 2 Times…..I like to make my desk creek 2 times but that's just because my desk is really old ……..

After you punch either your Designer Series Paper or Card Stock, use your Bone Folder to Reinforce those score lines …..

I'm sorry this next picture is blurry …..

2. Next you are going to use your adhesive and glue two of the petals together… put your glue on the outside of the petal…..At this point don't forget … if you are using Designer Series Paper, the design side you want is facing down… or wrong side up …..

I use TomBo Multi Purpose because I live in GA, where the humidity is really high and it seems that for projects like this ….. it holds better…

Continue Gluing your petals cards together …. like a string of paper dolls……so it looks like this …..

A Nice neat little row ………

now the Hard part to explain …..bring the left and right petal on each end together ….I hope this next pictures helps …

See how it almost Rolls into the box…….

to finish getting your box shape … glue the 2 petals on the end together …..just like you did for the others…..these petals are going to be on the INSIDE of the box…there is enough room for you to pinch those two petals together from the inside…..It really is a lot easier than I'm making it out to be …..

When that's done your box should look like this:

Now you can close your Box by gluing the flaps down or doing that " under over thing" … I don't know what it's is called or what ever way you like …..

If you are going to decorate it and turn it into a hanging ornament…Be sure to close the top first …I used the "under over thing-y" so I had that little space in the center to put a Brad … so you will need the bottom open to secure the brad …..

Here is another tip for you…..have you ever looked really looked at you paper piercing tool….. you have the pokey end and you have the flat end…well the flat end is perfect for reaching into the box and really flattening and securing the brad….. the same trick works when you add a brad to a card or other project…..so they are always perfectly flat ….

I just used Baker's twine to make the loop so my little box could hang…..

So see you're done not so bad …..I made a whole slew of them in just a few minutes….

See the top one in the Picture… Looks like a Christmas Present…..and it is the perfect size to hang on one of those office desk top Christmas trees…..

There is my Halloween Box on the Bottom Row,,, you can get a good look at that " under over thing" I was telling you about…..

and the other ones in fun bright colors… are just Perfect for birthday…..a teeny tiny present to sit on a card that you give a Co-worker or teacher …when you want a little something more than a card … but not really a full gift… just a little extra ….

So what fits in these little boxes?

1 Hershey nugget or Kiss…..or any other individual wrapped single piece of candy…

Eraser tops or baby erasers, you know the ones in the dollar stores that come out for every holiday…that's what one of my kids teacher is using them for …..she lets the kids pick a box when they do something good…they are high school kids and love it …..she also said she is putting candy, paper clips, and all those little things…It's like the days of the "Grab Bags" you never know what you are going to get ….and that's half the fun …..

I hope you enjoyed my tutorial …and don't forget to visit Teresa at the Stampin' Mama Studios….she has some great Christmas ideas … you really should check them out…..

If you have any questions just email me at Sherry@sherrystampinbella.com and I will do my best to answer them or if you want to purchase the Petal Card Double Punch … just click on my shop now button …..

Monogram Suite is Simple Sweet

Ciao Bella,

I tried several times yesterday to post but for some reason ….it just wouldn't take …. I figured my blog new it was Labor Day and was not going to do any labor…..

What I want to share today …..is the exact reason why I make cards…I received this card in a swap from the Charlotte Regional Stampin Up training…..

Joyce G. a sister demo, gave this card as her swap …..super  simple and Elegant …..but that's not the reason …. The reason I'm sharing is … instead of making all the cards the same in the swap … Joyce took the time and using the Stamp Set Monogram Suite, put every person who was in the swap , letter of their name as the focal point …It made me feel a little special that she would take that time to do that ….So that's the reason I make cards and gifts… to make someone else feel a little Special ….

Joyce also went over the top and gave each one of us …..this

This really cute treat pouch…..again super simple … but a big impact …..So I just have to Thank You to Joyce… In a day filled with surprises she stood out …..

Since I like this so card So Much ….. I'm think of either having one similar either in workshop or as a Personalized Stationary Class…..but I can't decide…..

So please email me at Sherry@sherrystampinbella.com or leave a comment and tell me what you prefer at Personalized stationary Class…( great for Christmas gift giving) or see it in a workshop …..Either way I will make it happen …..

Paisley Petals Recycled Bank

Ciao Bella,

I have been trying to think of away to save money for my trip to the Stampin' Up Convention next year AND save Money for My High School Senior ….who's Senior trip is 10 days in Europe….10 days at $2500.oo, plus all the other senior costs…..so this is what I came up with …..

I washed out a 12 oz Plastic Coke Bottle and dressed it up with some In Color Designer Series paper and some Paisley Petals Designer Series paper and added a little ribbon…..Now I can't remember if it is a 16 oz or the 20 oz plastic bottle but either case … if you fill it with dimes …when it full you should have roughly $300… give or take …..

So I thought that was a neat little trick and I always have Plastic beverage bottles….so I thought I would be a little greener and make my new bank as pretty as possible…..So I then decieded I needed a reminder on my Bank to help keep me motivated …..

So I added a tag… just some punches and a hand written label ….. too stinkin cute… who wouldn't remember to save with a cute reminder bank like this …

Oh yeah …. for those of you who would be interested in Sponsoring my son … email me and I will send you the information needed….

Thanks for dropping by today

Cindy Sue, My white trash queen

Ciao Bella,

Here is a fun fact for you…..Today is National Trail Mix Day,….Yep,…..it is …. how do I know this?….My son is in a video Broadcasting class at his school, and they do the morning video announcements, and they try to find a funky holiday for everyday to add to their "news broadcasts" … So what does that have to Do with Cindy Sue, my white trash queen ? ….. absolutely Nothing….really….

Here's Cindy Sue …

Remember the Card from the day before yesterday… my 5 minute , 50 cent card …..here is a step up version of the card…..so now it about a 10 minute card, and about 75 cents…. anyway ….I just love this image…and I'm not sure is stampin' Up gave her a name, so I'm calling her Cindy Sue, and she reminds me of those loud, outgoing, lots of fun broads…the kind who are the queen of everything but just a little off and lives in a trailer …..we all know one and love her to death …..Remember the old TV show Alice, and the character of FLO,…..

Now take Cindy Sue, and just Change the greeting…

Now, she's saying Happy Birthday!!!!!

Now I just love making her dress as gaudily as possible …..so look closely ….see anything ?

no?…..

are you sure?

well how about now?

how about now?…..

Look closely at the polka dots on her dress, her shoes and earrings….

they are all shiny and sparkly…what did I use to make it that way?…..Nope not crystal effects and glitter….

you are looking at a sneak Peek of Dazzling Details…a new product …that will be release tomorrow in the NEW HOLIDAY MINI Catalog…..I can't wait …. you are going to be creating your little butt off….

anyway….Dazzling Details is a bottle of liquid glitter with a fine pencil point tip for precise application … in ways that tradition glitter can do….and the best part …NO….I Mean NO Mess…. how cool is that … way cool …. and just like all Stampin Up products…it is coordinated to match all there colors…. the bottle comes in clear, but next week or so … I will be releasing my First Video Tutorial …yup scary I know….but in the video I will show you how to color you Dazzling Details……..

Ok back today…. it is the LAST DAY TO

If you haven't ordered it yet … NOW is the time ……

and if you love butterflies like I do …and want to support Breast Cancer Research …..

Yep … Today is the last day for this stamp set as well….I'm really going to miss this set……I just love that butterfly …….

Scrapbooking Best Friends Forever

Ciao Bella,

I haven't done a scrapbook page in a while and i was thinking it was about time…And on one of the Stampin' Up Demo Professional groups I belong to , they had a layout in their Weekly Scrapbooking Challenge that really just …spoke to me…I instantly know what to create…..so here it is …..

I used the Best Friends Forever Stamp Set,  it is awesome for creating scrapbooks …take the BFF out and you could have an entire album done …all you would have to do is change up some of the bling and placement of the pictures ….I bet you could ….really….

Here is a little close up …. I used only In- Colors…Pool Party, Island Indigo, Cameo Coral, Lucky Limeade, and Poppy Parade, and I also used Glimmer Brads…I also used the Two Tags Die for my bigshot to create my photo mats….Since I was using such vibrant colors but still wanting a vintage-ish feel …I used confetti White Card Stock…..as my base …..

This stamp set is so versatile …. I made a matching card…..Did I tell you … I used vanilla Smooch Spritz on both the page and the card … it is my favorite for sparkle…..actually …..my whole desk is covered in Smooch Spritz…..because I'm too lazy ….I just move paper and stuff out of the way …and spritz away…..Some days you would think I was part of the Twilight cast , because somehow I get it all over  me including my face…lol

Ok back to the card…the same elements ….almost the same focal point ….again this could a thank you card or a birthday card …just change the BFF to what ever your heart desires…..

Now BIG Reminders …….Tomorrow …Tomorrow …Tomorrow

yep the BUY 3 get 1 free ENDS TOMORROW !!!!!!!

STampin Up campaign Against Breast Cancer ENDS TOMORROW!!!!!!!

YEP ….. the Summer Mini Catty Ends TOMORROW ….

So it time to get those things you have been putting Off …….It's Now or Never ……….

5 Minutes and 50 Cents

Ciao Bella,

I hope you all had a great weekend…Hurricanes aside, I hope you all had plenty of time for stamping. I got my weekend silly on , as usual… but for today I wanted to show you a card that is Silly but took me less than 5 minutes to make and only cost me 50 cents… including envelope…..

I used the Not So Seriously stamp set …and just did a speck of coloring with my Stampin' write Markers…that's it …..no layers, no fuss no muss…..This card is 50% cheaper that the cheapest store bought card…..and I love it ….

Remember you are creating and giving  a piece of your heart when you give someone a hand made card…so not every card has to have a gaxillion things on it …as long as you made it ….your time and effort mean more to family and friends than an email or anything else ….because it really is part of you …that you are giving them …

Have a Happy week and if you would like to purchase this stamp set or Stampin Up stampin write markers just click the shop now button at the right hand corner of this page and off you go …..and while you are there don't forget the buy 3 get one free Designer series paper

Seriously, Muttley

Ciao Bella,

It's Saturday…that means I will be getting my Silly on today…and I have the perfect stamp set for this …It's called Not So Serious…..and I will be playing with this set this weekend…

Here the first card I made just playing around …

I have to admit, I'm not quite finished with this card….It still needs a little bling …..but I'm making it for a very special friend and sister demo …and I want her to be surprised when she sees it …..

All I did was stamp the images in Stazon Black, and used my Stampin' Write Markers and an Aqua Painter to color in …. the best part of this stamp set is …you don't need to be perfect…..and it gave me the freedom to make all the cute little mutts …any color I wanted …..

If you would like me to teach you this super duper easy way to water color … let me know and I will set up a class …..

Have a great weekend everybody …don't forget to get your silly on …..see you Monday

Let Your Freak Flag Fly…..

Ciao Bella,

When I was at the Stampin Up Region we were challenged to make our creativity a priority….creativity is something everyone has whether they think so or not …Believe it or not … most people think I'm creative… I am not so much…on average it takes me anywhere from 2-4 hours to design a card or scrap page….longer if I'm doing an artsy fartsy project…..Now lucky for me, making cards for workshops, cards that the new to stamping can do ….those come much easier to me…and they are some of my favorite cards to make…no brain power required…lol I think of it as cards … you…my customer want to make…and CAN make on your own…everyone enjoys looking at the fancy smancy stuff, but when It comes right down to it…we are always most comfortable with what we can …with a stretch out side the line …here and there…..

Before I move on let tell you a little secret…and for the few of you I have met you can testify to this…. I suck and language and grammar…..and writing a blog every day is all about that…..so I got creative and stayed true to me ….and write my blog as if I'm actually having a chat with you … yep…this is pretty much how I speak…a little all over the place…a little rambly…and I also think spell check is the great invention to man kind…lol…..So Today I'm letting my Freak Flag Fly ….

So Back to this challenge Stampin Up gave me..

".Creativity and making it a priority in your life, not an "extra". Not only is having creative time fun, but it is good for your health. It is a good stress reliever and release. She indicated that everyone is creative, even if you don't think you are. The more you work at it, the more creative you will be.

Carrie demonstrated a creative journal she's been working on and a list of activities to do with the journal to help boost creativity.

  • She stressed not trying to do things in order, but randomly. Don't necessarily start at the beginning of the book, but somewhere in the middle or at the back.
  • Don't over think the activities, just do them.
  • Don't compare your journal to anyone else's. There is no right or wrong way.
  • There is no such thing as a do-over. Do not remove pages; there are no mistakes.

Here is a picture of the SU staff, showing a page of there Journal …

I have to admit I didn't get a good photo of this …but lucky for you a sister Demo Debbie N. got this great shot and I'm borrowing it …..

so here is what they gave us…..

a 5 x5 on board art journal, card stock, linen thread, and the new baby clothes pins…and of course directions on how to make the cover Donna Griffith made… well ….I loved donna Flower and such by it's not quite me and it wouldn't be a creative challenge if Copied hers…So I am going to let me FREAK FLAG FLY again…and design my own ….

SO … for the next few months every Friday, I'm going to show you how my creative challenge is going…..

You might have noticed I keep saying Freak Flag Fly… To me ….everybody has a little something that is different and unique to them…and that is what makes each person special …and allot of times people try and hide  it …. but I say let it fly….freak might not be the best word choice for everybody but it is for me…

So Let the Freak Flag Fly on Fridays…..perfect for getting your Silly on ….on Saturdays don't you think…

Have a great weekend

Inspiration and Creativity…

  Ciao Bella,
